Background to the Colwick Park Adventure Centre
1
Built for Nottingham City Council, this is a centre reliant
on renewable energy throughout.
2
There are no external services to the centre in any form, but the centre
is equipped
with all normal facilities found in a
sport's centre and the site covers two floors and a
basement boathouse.
3
Renewable energy is provided by solar and voltaic panels on the
roof, a wind turbine and a wood burning
stove to give
direct heat.
4 Fresh (filtered) water is supplied from a nearby bore hole and
there is a large storage container for waste products.
5 The basement area is built to allow for possible flooding.
6
The centre is approximately 1 mile from the nearest accessible public
highway.
